Start a Conversation!

The November Mums attending my classes and workshops have all received one of my wonderful new Julie Keys Bump Birth and Baby class tote bags!

What are you going to carry in yours? Blankets or cushions for class? A water bottle to keep you hydrated and a change of clothes for your wee one? Or maybe some snacks to keep you going through pregnancy or that early postnatal period?

But what's the point of these bags? For me over the years I have tried to find a way to help mums to be able to connect and many of you connect through my pregnancy weekly classes or Tinies and Wrigglers classes postnatally classes but what if you're out and about or you're at another baby or pregnancy class or at your antenatal clinic, maybe you're out at the Jags clinic and you see a mum who also has a tote bag it gives you the chance to start a conversation.
It allows you in social situations and to be able to ask “are you going to Julie's classes?” or “What classes are you doing? When did you go?” It can open up a whole new conversation and gives potential for a new friend.
Connection is the main reason I teach my classes. I experienced postnatal depression with my daughter for many reasons but I found it hard to know where to go to classes, which classes were available and if I would know anyone there. So if I can help you all to connect through classes or give you the opportunity to meet new people I will always do my best.
Over the years I have tried using bags which have really worked we've used bracelets and we've used ribbons various different things but let's see how the bags go.

Many of us find it difficult to strike up a conversation with a complete stranger but it can be so much easier if you know you have something in common. A lot of ladies come alone not knowing anyone at the start of a Bumps or Baby weekly class but you quickly get to know each other through our private what’s app groups and weekly class chats.

This week two of our mums shared that they had been in beds beside each other in University Hospital Wishaw and when they started their Wrigglers class they reconnected and it was fabulous to see!

Whether you're in hospital, or you're in another class, maybe you're out with family and friends and you don't realize that they've come to classes with me…. start a conversation.
