Everything you need to know about Infant feeding
After noticing many Lanarkshire mums struggling with breast feeding in Julie’s Bump, Birth and Baby classes since Covid-19, I decided to reach out to Angela Chalmers of Latch on Lanarkshire to see if we could work together to provide a dedicated, face to face infant feeding workshop for mums-to-be giving them helpful information on infant feeding and how they can best help themselves.
I had never met Angela before but had referred many clients over the years to help for breast feeding advice or any of my lovely ladies who had been having issues with a tongue tie.
Angela is a retired NHS health visitor and now is specialist, highly recommended lactation consultant helping mums with all their infant feeding concerns.
Last Wednesday 17th April, 22 mums and dads came along to the workshop in New Wellwynd Parish Church, Airdrie which was very well received.
Highly recommended!
Local mum Kyrstin says “So glad I signed up for the infant feeding class. It was a fantastic safe space for questions and gaining pieces of information I wouldn't have thought of and have definitely set my mind at ease. As a first time mum it's given me a great foundation of knowledge to give breastfeeding a go and the follow up emails with video links, facebook groups and networks were all greatly appreciated. I started the evening of 'I've heard it's really hard but I'll give it a go" to 'I really want to give breastfeeding my best shot using the techniques confidently" Amazing value for money!”
There was a small charge for the workshop that we chose to donate the profits to local business Bear Necessities as Angela runs a Free Breast Feeding Support Group every Monday at Bear Necessities from 1.30-3pm and is a fantastic local charity. After raising £108 we hope to raise more funds in future for this amazing local charity with further infant feeding workshops. If you would be interested in future infant feeding workshops please contact juliekeys78@gmail.com for more information.
Our next workshop will be Wednesday 26th Feb 2025 at 6pm in New Wellwynd Parish Church Airdrie and you can book online HERE
