Beating Burnout How a supportive community can make a difference

Burnout, social media and how vital it is that mums are supported. An interview with myself, Julie Keys, from Bump, Birth and Baby classes in Lanarkshire

“How do we know when we are doing too much? It is when our health fails, when someone else tells us, or when we have learned what our capacity is? Being a Mum is really tough at times, we put pressure on ourselves, and we are bombarded by outside pressures.”

Last week I chatted to Sarah McMinn of Grace Health and Fitness who teaches Pilates classes for all in East Kilbride, including antenatal and postnatal Pilates and I am hoping she will do a wee guest feature as a blog her soon with the benefit of postnatal Pilates for us.

In the second episode Sarah and I chatted about all things work, family, health and wellbeing and franchise. In this episode you can find out more about myself and what I do to keep the wheels turning.

I have worked with pregnant and postnatal women for the last 12 years and I am coming up for my 15th Wedding anniversary next week. We are married with two great kids and I share how I took the leap into business from being a fashion footwear buyer with Schuh to being a self employed antenatal and baby class teacher.

Find out what it is like being part of a franchise, how I have made myself unwell (regularly) by doing too much, and what I think about using my kids in social media.

From starting out running four Antenatal classes in East Kilbride, Cumbernauld, Hamilton and Airdrie, to growing the business with four employees to add classes in Coatbridge, Stepps, Lanark, Uddingston, Rutherglen, Carluke to reducing the business just before and after covid-19.
