Pregnancy Massage Airdrie

I stumbled upon this old snapshot from 2019, back when I scored my pregnancy massage qualification from Knot Stressed in Edinburgh. After wrapping up my sports and remedial massage course with The Western School of Massage at Glasgow Caledonian University, I was itching to add this incredible treatment to my skill set to compliment the pregnancy classes that I teach at Julie Keys Bumps weekly classes and the Bumps Couples Antenatal Workshops

Since June 2019, I've been providing pregnancy massages, along with sports and remedial massages, in Airdrie, and let me tell you, I'm absolutely loving it! There's something truly magical about providing such a fantastic treatment.

Delivering relief from stress and tension during your pregnancy feels fantastic as a massage therapist. It's all about bringing that sense of calm and relaxation to mums-to-be.

Pregnancy massage works wonders in a variety of ways:

It can reduce excess swelling.

It soothes those pesky muscle pains and tensions.

It can ease lower and upper back.

It helps your baby find a comfy position and can sometimes help them into the optimal foetal position.

It's a secret weapon for getting better sleep during pregnancy.

It battles night-time cramps and restless legs.

Plus, it just leaves you feeling absolutely incredible, even when everything else feels achy!

How many weeks should I be for pregnancy massage?

Now, you might be wondering, "How far along should I be for a pregnancy massage?" Well, you can attend from 13 weeks into your pregnancy, and I'm here to treat you right up until you're ready to welcome your bundle of joy.

As you approach those final weeks in your pregnancy, it's crucial to take time to unwind. It's like hitting the relaxation jackpot, boosting those feel-good hormones like oxytocin while dialing down the stress hormone cortisol.

How will I be lying during a pregnancy massage?

In my pregnancy massage treatments I ensure all mums are lying on their side during massage and we turn over half way through. A side lying position does not put excess stress on the lower back and keeps the body in alignment to maximise the benefits of your pregnancy massage.

You will be fully supported with many pillows throughout your massage and if required a heated blanket.

What happens before your massage?

Before we get started on your massage, we'll go through a full consultation to go over any medical bits and bobs you might be dealing with during pregnancy. Whether it's pelvic girdle pain, hypermobility, or anything else, I'm all ears and ready to tailor the session to your needs.

What pressure will be used during my massage?

Everyone's got their own flavor when it comes to massages—some like it firm, while others prefer a gentler touch. But here's the thing: a top-notch therapist will always keep tabs on the pressure throughout your session to make sure they're getting it right for you. Don't hesitate to speak up if things feel too firm or not firm enough. Your comfort is key to getting the most out of your massage.

And hey, it's ok to hit pause if you need a bathroom break or if you're just not feeling quite right. Communication is the name of the game here!

How do I book in?
